The four dimensions of not being still life

I’ve been going through something.

I have always been very fascinated by the great minds that attempted to explain this bubble of energy that we observe and co-create. And through this something that I am experiencing, I found myself going back to impactful readings from my earlier years when I still had courage to ask myself the questions everyone seems to have answers for, if rooted in belief systems. Fact is, no one has answers for them, but as they become harder and harder to deal with, it’s simply easier to live a life that’s transactional in nature. Well, something definitely woke me up again and pulled me out of that still life painting I was in. Didn’t feel quite right being an apple in a basket.

Through this journey of going inward and finding the courage to ask, yet again, those mad questions, I came across a book about chakra healing. I won’t expand on what this is about and my own experiences with it (there is another post on that specifically), instead I want to focus on a simple framework of thinking about ourselves.

I want to share it because it was important for my own healing and rediscovery and because I believe it could be useful to someone whose belief system is supported by the thought that everything and all is energy generated by the collective and individual consciousness.

This author (Cyndi Dale) articulates that the four human dimensions of being are physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Quite straightforward, right? And not new - there’s plenty to read on holism. This said, it’s not that simple to assess state and needs of each dimension and understand how they all come together to create something as unique as your own consciousness. There is one of you, so there is one and one only combination that makes you who you are.

So bad news, you can’t copy it and make it your own. You can’t replicate someone else’s journey and expect it to serve you in full. Not if you are seriously looking for yourself. Even more difficult is to understand and self-diagnose which part is broken or needs your attention.

While this is a forever work in progress (insert cue for one of Dr. Stutz tools ‘life is made up of pain, uncertainty and constant work’), I did understand something. My physical and mental state were being dragged across concrete for years. And how was I attempting to solve it? By investing time and energy in improving my physical and mental state. So wrong. Best analogy: a plant is dying, and so you water it more and more and more, until eventually it drowns. You just made it die faster.

I failed to understand that the main root cause for my issues was manifesting in those spheres, but resulted by lack of awareness and investment in the other two. I neglected my emotional and spiritual spheres for years. Simply thought of them as annoyances. How sad.

So much to learn (and fail) on how to evolve and develop these four areas of oneself. If there is anything you take away today from reading this let it be this: give yourself the gift of a simple scan.

How you doing? And how are you doing specifically in EACH ONE of these four dimensions?
